What it reported doing in 2024

Kendal at home continues to redefine aging by supporting older adults in remaining safely and independently in the homes and communities they love. As a mission-driven not-for-profit, we provide personalized care coordination, wellness services, and proactive planning for our 417 members enabling them to age in place with dignity, purpose, and peace of mind. Rooted in the values of the kendal system, kendal at home offers a unique approach to lifelong wellness by delivering high-quality, individualized services directly to members in their own homes. Our model promotes independence, adaptability, social connection, and continuous learning meeting the evolving needs of older adults with compassion and innovation. Expanding impact in 2024: in 2024, we expanded our impact through education and community outreach focused on two pressing issues: fall prevention and cognitive health. Falls remain the leading cause of injury and injury-related death for americans age 65 and older. To help mitigate this risk, kendal at home continued to offer stepping on, an evidence-based fall prevention workshop shown to reduce the likelihood of falls by 31%, as published by the journal of the american geriatrics society. With grant support from the Ohio department of aging, we take great pride in offering this training in a virtual environment, which not only ensures accessibility and convenience for members in their home setting, but also fosters casual social connections and a shared sense of purpose among participants. These group-based sessions help combat isolation while reinforcing our commitment to supporting both physical safety and emotional well-being at home. Over the past year, we held quarterly workshops educating 28 new participants, directly enhancing their safety and confidence. To complement these efforts, we further advanced our care in home initiative, providing members with up to four personalized in-home training sessions annually to support balance and mobility. In 2024, 111 members participated in over 725 hours of training. This hands-on support was enhanced by other accessible wellness programs, including balloflex, a small group seated fitness class, and spiro100, a streaming platform offering tailored exercise and mindfulness content for older adults. Beyond physical health, kendal at home deepened its commitment to cognitive wellness and dementia awareness. As a proud participant in the global dementia friends movement, all kendal at home staff members are trained dementia champions. In 2024, we increased our training capacity by 40% facilitating sessions for healthcare professionals, first responders, and local municipal partners, equipping 456 individuals with the tools to create dementia-friendly communities. Through this initiative, we trained over 550 individuals, building greater understanding and support for those living with cognitive impairment. True to our values, kendal at home staff also contributed to the broader community through service and advocacy. Staff members participated in awareness campaigns such as the walk to end alzheimer's, shared expertise through presentations and partnerships, and served on boards and coalitions focused on aging issues. Collectively, our 15-person team contributed 312 hours of service, directly supporting 355 individuals, and generating community impact valued at $30,628 with immeasurable intangible benefits for those served. As we look ahead, kendal at home remains steadfast in our mission to empower older adults to thrive in place. Through compassionate care, innovation, and a commitment to lifelong wellness, we continue to foster a future where aging is met with dignity, respect, and possibility.
