College Bound
College bound is an organization dedicated to helping young people attend college. It was founded in 2003 by a guidance counselor and a community leader that wanted a way to reach hundreds of young people in memphis and shelby county who have a desire to attend college but lack the guidance and information needed to obtain attractive collegiate offers. Initially an informational web site, college bound has evolved into an exciting new non-profit organization. In 2006, college bound began operating as a 501(c)(3) charity. In the fall of 2006, memphis city schools assigned us to four high schools to implement our programs. Each of these schools has been labeled as having a high number of "at-risk" students. Our programs are designed to decrease the barriers between students and college. Many students don't attend college because of lack of information. We provide vital college preparation and by operating in the schools we eliminate the need for transportation.
