It was founded in 2003 by a guidance counselor and a community leader that wanted a way to reach hundreds of young people in memphis and shelby county who have a desire to attend college but lack the guidance and information needed to obtain attractive collegiate offers. Initially an informational web site, college bound has evolved into an exciting new non-profit organization. In 2006, college bound began operating as a 501(c)(3) charity. In the fall of 2006, memphis city schools assigned us to four high schools to implement our programs. Each of these schools has been labeled as having a high number of \"at-risk\" students. Our programs are designed to decrease the barriers between students and college. Many students don't attend college because of lack of information.
