IRS 990 Nonprofit Profile
Green Sangha Organization
Understanding the interdependency of all life, we practice and teach mind-body methods for experiencing and appreciating our fundamental unity. Our environmental actions aim at actualizing this awareness through mindful living, effective outreach, and compassionate political advocacy. Specific objectives include: shifting away from plastic consumption and waste; reducing carbon pollution; improving access to, and appreciation of, local and plant-based food sources; building resilient neighborhoods; reducing litter; and restoring habitat. Our activities include public presentations, conferences, web-based publications and video, clean-up days, tabling at events, and gardening. Monthly and seasonal retreats, incorporating meditation, education, and action planning, are staples for our local chapters. Each summer we offer the teen environmental leadership academy, immersing a dozen low-income youth in nature, meditation, and environmental action.
