The mission of the maya mathfundation is to engage with school children, kindergarten through 6th grade (primary/elementary age), in an afterschool setting, and through games, other low-cost tools, and personal interaction by talented high-school age volunteers, make doing mathematics fun and lower the anxiety associated with math. the purpose of this is to help children want to continue with and excel at math, the foundation of good-paying stem (science, technology, engineering, and math) careers, and prepare them to be math-capable citizens and thereby experience a higher quality of life.
