The west highland historical foundation is a non-profit corporation whose definitive purpose is to restore and reform the historical african american west highland high school located in fayette, al. our goal is to transform what is now a diminished and overlooked historical facility, into a community wide recreational center, by raising funds and by applying for grants. by restoring the west highland high school into a county-wide recreational center, we can supply fayette county with a variety of outlets that serve a greater purpose. providing programs that will deter our community from turning to crime and drugs, elevated teenage pregnancy rates, unemployment, and ultimately providing relief for the poor and under-privileged. the west highland high school is in one of the poorest areas in the county. we plan to incorporate a museum that will focus on the educational struggles of african americans and promote a tourist attraction. we also plan to offer amateur sports activities.
