Maternal and Child Health Access

Maternal and child health access (mcha) is a california non-profit organization with the mission statement: through direct support, individual advocacy, policy change and health care workforce transformation, mcha is building a california where women and families are supported, and everyone has the opportunity to be healthy.During the year ending december 31, 2024, mcha provided direct services in two main offices and in the community, and from home to over 3,000 women and their familymembers in its two perinatal home visitation and case management programs. online classes were provided bi-weekly to around 100 women at a time; and support groups to about 10-15 women. online home visitation took place in our welcome baby program at regular intervals to over 3,000 families. we provided services to over 20,000 individuals seeking enrollment in, renewal of, or assistance with free or low-cost health coverage or services; to over 10,000 families needing calfresh information and food support; and to almost 1,000 people representing 200 government, social service agencies, schools and clinics through our health coverage training and technical assistance program. we provided hundreds of hours of technical assistance to these agencies about health and nutrition coverage issues. we held monthly online community agency meetings offering speakers, resources and technical assistance.Mcha maintains: bi-weekly health education classes and breastfeeding support groups a monthly meeting for community agencies about maternal and child health-related topics additional food, housing, diapers, clothing, and other supplies for families assistance with income support through government and private programs an outreach program for enrolling families into health care coverage and troubleshooting their health coverage or health services issues, with a subcontract to another community enrollment organization a case management program and a home visitation program for pregnant and parenting women and their families a calfresh (food stamp) enrollment and issues program, which has blossomed into overall food insecurity assistance including pandemic ebt, wic and food cards a training /technical assistance program about health care coverage and services for community-based organizations and others. in 2018, mcha added nutrition coverage for calfresh to the training program.Mcha also conducts administrative and individual advocacy and policy work to improve health care and social services coverage and quality.
