Since 1946 EBCT has produced and performed live musical theater based on traditional folk tales, in the Oakland - Bay Area. It performs primarily for children at disadvantaged elementary schools, free-of-charge, and for other elementary school children. EBCT's productions expose low and moderate income students to the experience of musical theater, stimulating their imagination and interest in literature and the performing arts. Before EBCT's visits, each school receives "educational guides" which the class teachers use to prepare their students to understand and appreciate the musical.
