Page 2,part iii-primary exempt purpose-economic development, education, and direct assistancepage 2,part iii,line 28-economic development activities-assist artists with quality control;help in the development of new market-oriented products;purchase and market their art for resale in the us;and assist the artists to develop other markets in zimbabwe and other countries. zimbabwe artists project works in conjunction with the rukore weya artists group (rwag) in rural zimbabwe to assist poor rural farmer/artists, most of whom are women,to gain economic security through their art.The economic development activities of zap include assisting the artists and rwag with quality control;helping in the development of new market-oriented product ideas;purchasing and marketing their art in the us; and assisting them to develop other markets.Page 2,part iii,line 29-artistic and educational activities-expose to new artistic perspectives (museums,archives,online resources);create an artistic resource center in weva;art and business training/workshops;and critique of their art for aesthetics and marketability.American public-video project;information cards and public presentations.These activities are directed at a)poor artists in zimbabwe and b)the american public. activities for the artists include exposure to new artistic perspectives through access to museums,archives and online resources;the creation of an artistic resource center at the weya community training centre;art trainings/workshops for artists often taught by accomplished local weya artists;and critiques of their art as it relates to aesthetics and marketability page 2,part iii,line 30-direct assistance-provide high quality art materials requested by artists at subsidized rates;and emergency assistance with health care,food,housing and other necessities when necessary to individuals in need;provide school fees,uniforms and school supplies to children orphaned due to aids;provide transportation assistance.These activities include making available good quality art materials as requested by the artists at subsidized rates;and emergency assistance regarding health,food and housing when necessary to individuals in need.Zap has also worked with a zimbabwean aids organization in mobilizing the community around hiv/aids and keeping children who have been orphaned (mainly due to aids)in school.
