(1) Encourage and support high quality clinically relevant research. This research is to be primarily undertaken by the staff of the Rockwood Clinic and of other hospitals in the Spokane area. (2) Provide support for multi-center research projects. (3) Provide funding for the education and training of investigators and assisting personnel. (4) Review the scientific worthiness of research proposals and insure that proper safeguards are in place for any human subjects. Provide assistance in drafting research protocols and requesting grants for such proposals. (5) Review each project at least annually, such review not being a substitute for approval by an institutional review board.
