Khyentse foundation is a nonprofit organization incorporated in the state of washington, usa, in november, 2001. founded by dzongsar khyentse rinpoche, the foundation aims to preserve and share the buddha's wisdom with everyone. primarily a funding institution, the mostly volunteer organization is constantly growing and evolving, shaped by the needs and circumstances of the world and those who seek our support. with additional projects emerging every year, the efforts and contributions of our supporters and staff have allowed khyentse foundation to serve hundreds of thousands of people who are interested in the teachings of the buddha. we believe that everyone, whether buddhist or not, has something to gain from the buddha's insight. entering its third decade, the foundation is now prioritizing the following three areas: developing models for the education of children based on buddhist concepts of wisdom and compassion; developing and training educators, translators, and buddhist teachers for the 21st century; strengthening the academic study of buddhism in universities around the world. structurally, the foundation's activities are arranged around the following programs, which form the basic framework of our system of patronage to support buddhist study and practice: monastic education, text preservation, translation, buddhist teacher training, academic development, education for children, scholarships, and revitalizing buddhist heritage.
