Working toward sustainable living for women and children vulnerable to poverty, disease, and lack of education, many sierra leonean women and children seek jobs in countries like kuwait, saudi arabia, and the uae, hoping to find steady work and send money home. unfortunately, many are deceived and enslaved in horrific working conditions, becoming victims of labor and sex trafficking. most never make it back. those who do often face rejection from their families and communities due to the abuse they endured, visible injuries, deformities, or pregnancies. sierra cares foundation aims to educate communities to prevent more women from being trafficked to the middle east, and to protect children from being forced into labor, child marriage, or prostitution.
