The organization's mission is to 1) provide a means of disseminating information concerning precision measurement principles and techniques; 2) provide a meeting place for scientists and engineers concerned with basic research relevant to standards and measurements and with the application of new techniques to practical measurement; 3) foster international cooperation relating to the exchange of technical information; and 4) provide a means of increasing, in all directions, the flow of information among industry, national standards laboratories, and research institutions, all to be taken in context of electromagnetic metrology (measurement science).
