Off-kendrik is an independent non-profit 501c(3) organization and a thriving platform for bengali/south asian american theater in the greater boston area. our journey began more than fifteen years ago with a creative urge to express the immigrant experience through theater. it all started with a nostalgia-themed play, 'bijoner chayer cabin' (bijon's tea cabin), and has since evolved into a dedicated platform for showcasing high-quality bengali theater. we remain committed to creating original plays and reimagining existing literature to address the rapidly changing world around us, whether in the united states or india. off-kendrik's productions offer a unique window into the hearts and minds of the south asian immigrant community. in 2016, we introduced 'voices,' a storytelling segment that encourages broader community participation, sparking dialogues about dreams, aspirations, and the search for identity.
