Form 990 ez, part 1, line 16, other expenses office expenses $518 our reach cost $ 33967 travel $17226 total $51649 form 990-ez, part iii ? organizations primary purpose the primary goal and mission of pal ? portable academic lapdesk is to give the children of malawi an improved education by introducing the portable academic lapdesk into the classroom, and to provide teachers with materials, supplemental training and motivational techniques in order to see greater student retention rates and academic improvement. form 990-ez, part iii, line 28 ? statement of program service accomplishments 2023 was the tenth year the pal - portable academic lapboard, has worked to improve the education of primary students in the nation of malawi. 2023 saw the schools of malawi returning to previous norms with the school schedule back on full term after the interruption of school due to the covid pandemic. this is particularly important for malawi as many schools have no electricity and impoverished situations give no alternatives if class is cancelled. the department of education was visited once again during the 2023 outreach in september where dr. grace milner confirmed the endorsement of the government to this project. during the 2023 outreach to malawi 12 schools were visited along with training of over 350 teachers and distribution of 1200 lapboards. we now have over 6,645 pals in the school system. these pals have impacted over 190,000 students, 86 schools, nearly 2,910 teachers as well as the 98 team members who have traveled to africa and helped with training and distribution. the assessment forms returned from the head masters and teachers have stated over and over the improvement of test scores, attendance, class room participation, learners ability to recite the mathematical times tables, improved penmanship and many more improvements in their class rooms. the teachers themselves have stated how much easier it is to prepare lessons with the use of the pal and accompanying teachers manual. it is our goal to once again provide these tools to teachers and schools in malawi. fund raising and grant applications will once again be pursued. pal is in this work for the long haul and we look forward to the work into malawi.
