The blood center is a non-profit, community service organization guided by a volunteer, independent 18-member board of directors, comprised of community leaders and hospital representatives. the staff is composed of over 200 professionals, ranging from donation center medical staff, technicians who test and process blood, community outreach staff, and administrators who all work together to maintain a healthy blood supply. as the vital intermediary between donors and patients, the blood center is tasked with the critical service of educating the community about the great need for blood donations. in addition to providing easy-to-access donation facilities and offering mobile blood drives, the blood center organizes various educational outreach and donor programs, as well as promotional events in order to recruit enough donors to maintain the blood supply. the most significant accomplishment the blood center makes each day is helping to save lives in our community. the blood center serves anyone who needs blood or blood products in south louisiana and southern mississippi, as well as anyone who wishes to make the gift of life by being a blood donor.
