E-tech provides sound defensible, technical, scientific engineering advice and capacity building to communities in developing countries experiencing actual or potential adverse environmental impacts from large-scale extractive and other industrial projects. many of the communities e-tech serves are indigenous and confronted by formidable multinational mining and energy sector companies. e-tech aims to have positive effects on protecting biodiversity, traditional practices, and ecological health. historically, a connection between protecting biodiversity, conserving terrestrial landscapes as carbon sinks and the rights of the indigenous communities to a sustainable and healthy environment has not been adequately considered. e-tech believes that indigenous communities are best suited to protect local biodiversity. the residents of these remote areas with proper training, tools, and resources coupled with their traditional local knowledge can become effective stewards. moreover, the model
