The junior chamber of commerce or "jaycees" is a "constructive action organization of young persons who devoted a portion of their time to community service in the public interest, developing young persons as leaders of their community". The gainesville jaycees were formed in 1943 to meet the growing demand for service through leadership by young professionals. Over the years, the gainesville jaycees have raised millions of dollars for local charities and continue to provide the local community with an influx of leaders and visionaries. The gainesville jaycees of today continue that proud tradition with an active network of young professionals and community involvement. The nhra gatornationals hosted by the gainesville speedway is the largest fundraiser of the year. The gainesville jaycees provide lodging through campground facilities to thousands of fans.
