("aftercare") to provide supportive services for residents of this transitional housing facility. transitional housing is designed to help mentally ill residents transition from incarceration or other institutional settings to mainstream society through supportive programs at the housing facility. aftercare used state and federal grant funds to operate the program and leased the facility from st. therese house. the facility was founded and built by the leadership of a priest at holy comforter episcopal church of atlanta, although there is currently no formal relationship with either holy comforter episcopal church or aftercare, except as a former tenant of the facility. aftercare formerly used the proceeds from state and federal grants to operate programs at the facility and to pay st. therese house rent. the facility served approximately 8 to 12 temporary residents while in operation. residents were encouraged to take advantage of day programs offered at nearby holy comforter episcopal church. st. therese house board members sought to maintain supportive relationships with residents as appropriate over the years. st. therese house used the rent to maintain the house, pay insurance, and make grants to support other mental health and homeless supportive programs at holy comforter episcopal church and other charities serving this mission.
