The purpose of the charlottesville/albemarle transportation coalition is to bring together citizen volunteers to develop, study and act on proposals for the improvement of traffic in the charlottesyille-aibemarle area. our principal activities have centered around educating the public and local, state and federal officials regarding the negative impacts of the construction of a 6.2 mile bypass around route 29 and the lower cost and more beneficial effect of building a system of parallel roads to route 29 in a plan called: "places 29" which was approved by the board of supervisors of albemarle county in february 2011.
