The mission of the boy scouts of america is to prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them values of the scout oath and law. the stonewall jackson area council serves over 4,800 youth annually in central and western virginia through 133 local organizations that charter 206 cub scout packs, boy scout troops, venture crews and explorer posts. developing lifelong positive values of character, citizenship and personal fitness are at the core of our program. duty to god, country and other peoples before self are key issues stressed in personal and leadership skill development. two thousand one hundred one hundred seventy six trained adult volunteer leaders are supported by a seven person professional staff who provide extensive program and field services. finance and policy matters are overseen by a fifty person volunteer executive board under the leadership of a president and twelve other officers. camp shenandoah is a major program asset consist
