Meridian international center is a nonpartisan diplomacy institution founded in 1960 to advance american leadership. headquartered on a historic campus in washington dc, our mission is to empower leaders to advance the next era of diplomacy for a better future. in an era of geopolitical volatility and rapid change, meridian is expanding diplomacy beyond traditional government channels to business, technology and innovation, states and cities and sports and culture. leaders of these sectors are on the frontlines of global challenge and play a vital role in shaping the future of american engagement-driving u.S. economic growth, security, and innovation through international partnerships. meridian's role is to equip and prepare leaders with the insights, networks and resources that they need to navigate a complex global future. our impact cuts across three strategic priority areas: us competitiveness, fueling american economic growth and innovation; geopolitical resilience; and strengthening alliances and partnerships. the impact of our work cuts across our three strategic priority areas: strategic priority 1: u.S. competitiveness: fueling american economic growth and innovation - the meridian center for corporate diplomacy is washington's leading platform for commercial diplomacy, connecting global business leaders with diplomats and policymakers to navigate international markets and advance shared economic and geopolitical goals. acting as a bridge between the private sector and the international affairs community, the center fosters dialogue on issues such as regulatory frameworks, global supply chains, emerging technologies, foreign direct investment, and market access. strategic priority 2: geopolitical resilience: empowering leaders and organizations to anticipate, adapt and respond to global disruptions - the meridian center for diplomatic engagement serves as a hub for education and collaboration between the international diplomatic corps and u.S. public and private sectors on emerging global issues. strategic priority 3 - alliances & partnerships: strengthening international collaboration to tackle shared global challenges - as a partner to the u.S. department of state, the meridian center for global leadership develops and implements international exchange and training programs to strengthen collaboration between the u.S. and the world. these exchanges foster alignment with u.S. values and interests while generating economic impacteach visitor contributes to the local economy through travel, lodging, and professional services across dozens of u.S. cities.
