Verrazzano Day Observance
The purpose shall be to perpetuate the achievements of giovanni da verrazzano, a noted italian navigator, and the fostering of public recognition of the outstanding personalities of our state, who, in studied opinion of the committee, have distinguished themselves for their valuable contribution to the welfare and progress of our community, under the joint sponsorship of the grand lodge of rhode island, order of sons of italy america, and the department of rhode island italian american war veterans of the united states, incorporated. The corporation shall engage in such charitable community activities which are designed to forfill the purpose of this corporation. Foremost among the activities shall be the annual verrazzano day observance dinner which shall take place in the month of may each year.
