The mission of the society for the preservation of near-extinct species (the organization) is to provide scientific information and educational services to the public in the areas of cryobiology and extending the healthy human lifespan. this is achieved through a one-of-a-kind facility inside an underground house. the organization purchased the property - which was built during the cold-war era to withstand a nuclear blast - in march 2014. one of the purposes of the property is to exhibit collections of documents and memorabilia in order to preserve its historic significance. as a structure that was built to exist in perpetuity, the house is ideal for storing and exhibiting cryo-preserved biological specimens (including the dna of near-extinct species), organs for transplant, and other biological tissue. the facility includes a display area, a library and other scientific and educational resources.
