Primary exempt purpose:1. to create a community of working individuals of commensurate interests concerning cinema, its histories, its practices, its technologies, and its possibilities. this is a community broadly appreciative of the cinematic art-form and its variants spanning generations. it is hoped that mono no aware will constitute a haven and a resource for the exploration, practice and preservation of the cinematic arts.2. to offer affordable and accessible public workshops, lectures, seminars, and film screenings that foster an appreciation of the cinematic experience, its importance in society and relationship to visual culture... continued .... primary exempt purpose / mission statement continued:3. to operate and maintain facilities that provide education and access to the necessary technologies and resources used in the practice of analog filmmaking, cinema, preservation and the study of its varying forms.4. to promote and exhibit, in general, art forms with a cinematic sensibility that foster and admit a broad interconnectivity between human beings.5. to introduce the general public to and support the development of artists and filmmakers in the production of works on (or incorporating) analogue film projection, cinematic principles and other altered light performances. program accomplishments, item 2:gave workshops and lectures to advance filmmaking- community workshops in brooklyn, attended by over 300 participants from around the world- visiting lectureships in pennsylvania, wisconsin, massachusetts, new jersey, and new york- artists screening and lectures in brooklyn- film education at the queens museum of art and the japan society in manhattan
