The ojai village academy's mission is to prepare teachers and parents to bring forth a new soul inspired approach to education. the current educational system is failing our children. it is seriously outdated and incomplete. what is missing is that we are not addressing the soul of the child, only their intellect.1. a shift in perspective is required to see the child as a being with a soul with a gift for the world rather than as an empty mind needing to be filled. we propose an education that draws out (educes) what is inherent in each child, their innate wisdom and creativity.2. a shift is also required for the teacher to be a guide, mentor and collaborator rather than a dispenser of knowledge. a teacher is a model to children who learn more from who we are than from what we say. to help bring about these innovations, we have created a teachers college where through self-reflection one can explore the question "who am i?" as a teacher.
