The mission of tashra is to improve the physical and mental health of people who engage in non-traditional or alternative sexual practices including bdsm (bondage/discipline, domination/submission, sadism/masochism), kink and sexual fetishism. tashra accomplishes this through the following activities: we conduct research to define their unique bio-psycho-social healthcare needs we document their use of the healthcare system we train medical and mental healthcare providers to deliver culturally competent, non-judgmental, and knowledgeable care we educate community members to act as effective partners in their own healthcare we advocate for equitable treatment within the healthcare system we promote relevant health and social policies
