The organization is organized and will be operated exclusively for charitable, literary, scientific, and educational purposes within the meaning of code section 501(c)(3), including for such purposes, but not limited to, the promotion of health, the promotion of social welfare, the advancement of education and science, the relief of certain burdens that would otherwise fall to the city of chicago and its sister agencies, and the relief of the poor and distressed, each within the city of chicago. more specifically, the organization will concentrate on (1) affordable housing, (2) public safety, (3) urban conservation and open space, (4) education, arts, and culture, and (5) supporting and amplifying the positive work of neighbors and neighborhoods. the organization will achieve its purposes by (a) supporting initiatives of the city of chicago and its sister agencies, as well as public-private collaborations in the city of chicago, that further such purposes and concentrations; (b) increasing community, foundation, and civic involvement with and support for such initiatives; (c) providing mechanisms through which public, private, and not-for-profit sector resources can be utilized for such initiatives; (d) directing resources towards areas of identified need within the meaning of code section 501(c)(3); and (e) such other means as are appropriate and consistent with the purpose of the organization, and including all activities incidental or related thereto.
