Organizations primary purposechrist the cornerstone missions is an international evangelical mission whichprimarily focuses on reaching youth. this is accomplished by reaching youth withthe gospel of jesus christ through the avenues of education,sports and equippingthem to be agents of change within their respective contexts.Part iii: statement of program service accomplishmentsline 28: young mens basketball league - providing organized competition and training and life school and christian principles to teenage boys that are at risk from dysfunctional homes and violent communities.Services provided: weekly organized league play for approximately 60 participants for four months. line 29: high school basketball league: this league operates in coordination with inter secondary sports association (issa) which is the official high school athletic competition in jamaica. the players train at christ the cornerstone mission complex uner a coach that is on mission staff. players are taught basketball fundementals, team play, life skills and biblical principles. they are also offered educational clases in preparation for caribbean-wide external exams.Services provided: five days per week after school for 25 participants. part iii continued: statement of program service accomplishmentsline 30: awana kids club - children from the ages of 4-19 years old are weekly attendees at a structured bible memorization program. the program also includes group counseling sessions, organized recreation and opportunity for positions of responsibility among the older teenage children. christian principles are taught in numerous areas including relationship building and conflict resolution. most of the attendees are from dysfunctional homes and potentially at risk.Services provided: this is a weekly club that coincides with the school year from september to july. there are over 40 regular attendees with occasional attendees bringing the number to over 50. part iii continued: statement of program service accomplishmentsline 31: summer youth corps (christian youth corps) - this is a summer hire and training program for high school and college age youth. they are trained in basic teaching of bible knowledge, as well as service,responsibilities,leadership and work ethic.Services provided: youth corps workers are dispatched to various parts of the island to conduct various ministries, including vacation bible school, community outreach and street meetings, whereby they impart the training which they have received.Youth corps workers consist of betweem twelve and fifteen members and they impact roughly 400 children and teenagers, many of whom are potentially at risk. part iii continued: statement of program service accomplishmentsline 32: education ministry - education and education assistance is provided to students either within the local high school or within the lighthouse mission. involves rigorous tutorting and development and imparting of needed information through various learning aids to ensure success on national exams, and hence further opportunity.Life skills are also imparted within this context to many high school age children that are also at risk.Services provided: approximately 100 high school children are in involved in this program for the entire school year, september through july. they attend these teaching sessions twice a week. they also attend other sessions for research and writing requirements as addtional sessions in preparation of national exams. part iii continued: statement of program service accomplishmentsline 33: juvenile teaching and training to minor offenders. this is a program that provides counseling and training in life skills and biblical principles to at risk high school boys that have committed minor offenses. students are identified within the high school and assigned to the class which meets twice per month. the class format and philosophy also provide for counseling sessions outside of the classroom when necessary.Services provided: the class includes 20-25 boys which are separated from the daily school routine and meet for two hours with mission staff personel.
