By the early 1930s, the YWCA was an outspoken advocate for birth control and civil rights, a stance firmly adhered to over the decades, from the first desegregated dining hall at the Atlanta YWCA in 1960 to a widely-followed annual Stand Against Racism campaign that began in 2007.
