Organizations primary exempt purpose:pcic inc. dba southern arizona interfaith (sai) is a non-profit, non-partisan 501c3 educational interfaith organization created to expand broad-based institutional organizing throughout southern arizona. it identifies and trains leaders within institutions to develop the power and expertise necessary to advocate effectively with and for low-income residents in cochise, pima and santa cruz counties. part iii exempt purpose achievements:training of over 450 leaders in institutionsa new member became involved: frontera de cristo in douglas.New allies became involved including el mesias umc and united churches fellowship in nogales, emanuel baptist in rio rico, amado unitarian universalists santa cruz valley umc in sahuarita, and grace umc in douglas. esol, ged and citizenship classes were sponsored. research and planning for low-income senior housing was done in the green valley/sahuarita area. food security education and outreach took place at the douglas food bank. opioid addiction and responses were studied in douglas, nogales and tucson.Organizing teams met regularly in douglas, benson and green valley/sahuarita, and nogales/rio rico. the dues base was enlarged and grants from the catholic campaign for human development and the presbyterian church usa were obtained.Meetings were held with state legislators around the issues of education and health care.A three-day training session in spanish was held at our lady of fatima parish hall in tucson. over 50 leaders attended this training. training was provided in the areas of building a broad-base organization, board development, research actions, fundraising, power analysis, relational meetings, house meetings and understanding pressures on families.
