Convinced that the reponsibiity for evangelism and discipleship is the imparative task of all christians, gci exists to proclaim the gospel of jesus christ and empower the body of christ for ministry, worldwide, through the effective use of media resources and communication technologies. the organization's exempt purpose is to proclaim the gospel of jesus christ by enabling distribution of, and providing access to, without profit, on a worldwide basis, religeous and educational films, videos, audio tapes, compact discs, books, other text, audio and visual and digital and electronic communication technologies. in 2008 gci decided to discontinue its direct ministry outreaches and transferred the related operating assets to other entities to continue the outreach. the remaining assets are being gifted to other 501(c)(3) organizations over the next 3 to 6 years to fulfill gci's exempt purpose.
