IRS 990 Nonprofit Profile
Interstate Pest Control Compact
The interstate pest control compact was formed to bridge the economic and jusrisdictional gap between state governments and between state and federal governments to more adequately address the realities of dynamic pest infestations or outbreaks for which no other appropriate federal or state control mechanism exists. It provides funding for states wishing to control or eradicate plant pests in neighboring states or on a regional basis. Without this charitable funding, recipient states would not be able to control or eradicate the plant pest and the pest population could easily or rapidly increase and spread to other states, creating significant economic and environmental problems for the agricultural and natural resources in those states. The charitable funding may promote the economic development of those entities involved in the pest control activity, but more importantly it prevents or minimizes the economic ruin of agricultural industries and the devastation of natural resources.
