Winnebago county children and our courts foundation was established to provide care for children of adults who have business in the courts. this is a safe space for children to wait and be supervised while their parents are in traffic court, criminal court, family court, etc. this service was necessary because children should not be listening to adult issues and/or causing disturbances in the court room. the board of directors set the policy and has retained the ymca of rock river valley to supply trained child care workers. there is a telephone so that parents can be notified if there is an emergency. care providers have wrist identification so that only the parents can remove the child from the care center. the care center is located in the courthouse with facilities for play, bathroom, snack, etc.
