The City Club Forum Foundation

Informed individuals and communities that prize freedom of speech and civil, civic dialogue. founded in 1912, the city club of cleveland is one of the nation's great free speech forums. the founding members envisioned "a social club with a civic purpose," where strong differences of opinion would converge to produce solutions to complex problems. for more than a hundred years, all of our speakers-more than 7,000 in total, from sitting presidents to community activists-have answered unfiltered, unrehearsed questions directly from the audience. we firmly believe in the free expression of ideas and the benefits of open dialogue. we are non- partisan-we do not take positions on issues-but we are fierce advocates of engagement. in our second century of service, we produce more than 100 forums every year for the benefit of the community. these unique forums engage citizens and thought leaders in understanding and discussing new perspectives and ideas that often serve to catalyze growth and change in our community. the city club serves greater cleveland, the state of ohio, and the nation with programs that convene leaders, engage citizens, and provide all of our communities with opportunities to learn and participate in spirited dialogue on the issues that shape our future. our core values: - dialogue & discourse: the city club believes that insightful, inquisitive, well-rounded, honest, and respectful dialogue and discourse is a cornerstone of democracy and a vibrant northeast ohio. - excellence: the city club is committed to creating consistently high-quality experiences in which the community can engage with well-informed speakers and one another in meaningful dialogue and discourse about substantive, timely, and relevant ideas. - inclusion: the city club holds the space for diverse voices and perspectives, encouraging all to participate and treating all with respect, courtesy, and consideration. - civic leadership: the city club demonstrates civic engagement, partnership, thought leadership, and a legacy of service to the community.
