Summit County Sports Hall Of Fame

The purpose of the summit county sports hall of fame, founded in 1957, is to annually recognize and perpetuate summit county residents who have been outstanding in one of more of the organized sports on a post high school level. those persons duly elected into the summit county sports hall of fame will be honored at an annual banquet, their accomplishments made a matter of public record and their names inscribed on a permanent plaque and displayed in the foyers of the james a. rhodes physical education at the university of akron. the summit county sports hall of fame shall annually present the andy palich award to not more than two individuals, other than a player or coach, who have made a major contribution to the betterment of athletics in summit county, ohio, or on a national or international level. it also may annually present the phil dietrich senior athletic achievement award to not more than two individuals who have excelled in an established and recognized senior (age 55 or old
