Illinois Oil Field Museum at Oblong

The mission of the Illinois Oil Field Museum at Oblong is to operate its museum, library and archives as an excellent source of history and education of the oil industry in the Illinois Basin and secondly to the State of Illinois. Also, to preserve, collect, study, interpret, and exhibit significant materials relating to the ILLinois Basin and surrounding areas of the oil boom era and the oil industry of that era. Also, the acts of acquisition, accession and deaccession shall reflect a plan to insure the future of the Illinois Oil Field Museum at Oblong.
