IRS 990 Nonprofit Profile

Minnesota Darkhouse & Angling

The Southern Lakes Chapter was organized in 1986 to educate and teach the public about the heritage and methods of dark house spearing. Our group takes pride in its efforts to promote spear fishing. We do this by taking other people fishing particularly the young and elderly, supporting our fish decoy carvers, lobbying for the sport, and providing good fellowship among our members. The MDAA promotes the selective harvest of northern pike, fish regulations that are non-discriminatory, and protection of adequate spawning areas for northern pike. We are committed to working with the DNR Fisheries Division to guide them in promoting our historic angling methods. We are committed to protecting and preserving our sport while promoting the responsible use of our renewable fishery resources. Darkhouse fishing is a historical tradition as well as a sport for those who participate.
