The roy eddleman institute was formed for the benefit of the chemical heritage foundation, a public charity described in sections 501(c)(3) and 509(a)(2) of the internal revenue code. the chemical heritage foundation is now known as the science history institute (shi). the roy eddleman institute continues to carry out the purposes of the shi, principally through programs and fellowships in the areas of collecting, preserving, interpreting and disseminating materials that record and explain the various achievements in the chemical sciences. a particular focus of support will be shi's own roy eddleman institute, and its development of electronic, digital, printed, web, and modern media presentations that render vivid the adventure and progress of the chemical and biomolecular sciences, in ways that provide informal learning opportunities to varied publics - e.G. k through 12, college, post-graduate, and general audiences.
