The purpose of the (brsg inc.) is to encourage educational and professional development for scholars in black religion by helping them explore common research interests pertaining to the convergence of the black church, the black community, and provocative issues confronting african americans within the contemporary society. in this spirit, the brsg annual consultation invites a free community meeting open to the general public will participate in this vital conversation about the future of the black church and the african american community as we try to work through these challenges in the hopes of envisioning new possibilities. additionally, the brsg, inc. honors prominent scholar-activists in recognition of his or her lasting contributions to the african american community in general and our understanding of black religion and spirituality.
