We pair abused children with rescued horses and specially trained therapists to empower both the children and the animals to heal from the effects of violence and neglect. family violence is intergenerational, handed down from parent to child. children who grow up in violent homes often grow up to perpetuate violence against their own children, or marry abusers who do. where there is violence against the children in a family, there is violence against the family pet. therefore, when child abuse is perpetuated into the next generation, so is animal abuse. by providing victims of child abuse with animal assisted psychotherapy, we seek to address the intergenerational nature of child and animal abuse; healing the victims of current violence and stopping the violence for generations to come.
