In the spirit of st. Francis of assisi and inspired by the charisma and natural beauty of ards friary, which is located in county donegal, ireland, the friends of ards friary, seek to promote justice, peace and reconciliation among all peoples everywhere. We seek to preserve places of enchanting natural beauty, where it is easier for people to come closer to god. In the united state and abroad we strive to raise awareness of ecological issues, through training, education and respect for "our sister, mother earth" (st. Francis of assisi). The overall purpose of the friends of ards friary is to promote the ards friary by heightening its visibility in the united states, financially supporting its physical maintenance and programs and providing scholarships to students to increase their involvement. This historic retreat center set in 200 acres on the edge of a beach located on the beautifully scenic ards peninsula in the county donegal, is used for a whole host of worthy causes.
