The purpose of the organization is to advance the education, research and treatment of vitreoretinal diseases through the following: (a) forming a collaborative network dedicated to conducting and supporting basic and clinical research in vitreous and retinal diseases. (b) facilitating the mentoring of vitreoretinal students, residents and surgeons by senior academic vitreoretinal surgeons. (c) furthering the education of vitreoretinal surgeons and vitreoretinal surgeons in training by promoting the publication of research and clinical analysis. (d) providing a scientific forum for the advancement of education, research and treatment of vitreous and retinal diseases. (e) conducting all activity incidental or necessary to accomplishing the foregoing purposes or otherwise permitted by section 501(c)(3) of the code.
