The lnternational fetal medicine and surgery society foundation, inc. ("ifmssf") was created to foster research and education in the field of fetal therapy. the foundation's sole purpose is to support the mission of the international fetal medicine and surgery society in promoting the advancement of methods to diagnose and treat fetal problems before birth. ifmssf has served to help the society to hold its annual research meetings and to provide small research awards to junior investigators for outstanding research conributions to encourage advancement in the field. approximately 150 physicians and scientists from all over the world attend the annual metting, and everyone is responsible for their own support. if sufficient funds become available, ifmssf may make small research or educational grants to further foster advancements in the fields of prenatal diagnosis and treatment of disorders so diagnosed.
