To promote education in general among americans of spanish descent; more particularly, to stimulate among spanish speaking americans interest in the ideal of american democracy and love for the beautiful spanish traditions; and most particularly, to emphasize the fact that american patrictism is completely consistent with respect for spanish traditions and to this end, to raise funds for scholarships for needy students; to gather and furnish statistics to the state commissioner of education and to the boards of education of various municipalities with a substantial population of people of spanish origin to campaign for the teaching of spanish in high schools; to point out and encourage the inclusion in history books used in public schools the contributions of spain to the history and culture of the american people which, in the past and present, have been unduly omitted; and to stimulate and even finance travel between spain and the united states, and to cement a closer relationship.
