IRS 990 Nonprofit Profile
Black Mountain College Project Inc
The primary purpose of the Black Mountain College Project is the preservation of the history of Black Mountain College, an experimental college which thrived in the mountains of North Carolina from 1933-1957. In the year 2005-2006, the Project interviewed former alumni. Alumni donated documents to the Project to assure their preservation and eventual transfer to an archive as a reference for scholars. A website (www.bmcproject.org) is maintained as the primary online source for information about the college. The Black Mountain College Project maintains an active communication through correspondence, email and telephone calls with surviving faculty and students as well as their heirs, all of whom are elderly, to assure their memories are recorded and their papers are perserved.
