An overview of missions & programsin 1959, otto frank, annes father, founded our organization as the anne frank foundation, the american partner of the anne frank house in amsterdam and the anne frank fonds in basel. the united states was no afterthought to otto. at age 19, he came to new york to do an apprenticeship at macys, before returning home to germany. he fell in love with the united states and never forgot his time here.In 1977, the organization renamed itself the anne frank center usa. in 2016, the organization expanded its name to the anne frank center for mutual respect, to reflect its expanded focus on exposing and fighting hate in the world today. our new name is inspired by otto himself, who wanted the organization to help build a world based on equal rights and mutual respect. ottos dream was annes dream, and continues as ours.Our inspiring programs, events and exhibits across the country, tailored to youth and adults from every walk of life, train participants to recog
