AYS Inc. devotes 100% of its time and resources operating our winter guards. Our expenses include travel (hotels, buses and food), production costs (music, costumes and equipment) and entry fees (paid to Winter Guard International and Tournament Indoor Association). Our staff volunteers their time. AYS attempts to cover travel expenses for our staff. Youth participants of the color guard perform programs to music with dancing and/or spinning simulated rifles, sabres and flags. The activity involves a great deal of physical skill (timing, coordination and grace) as well as a great deal of mental stamina, confidence and focus. Approximately 26 young people were involved during the 2011 competitive season.
