district is the 2nd largest school district in pima county and serves over 17,000 students, of which 86% qualify for federally funded breakfast and lunch programs. the majority of these students live below the proverty line and are considered financially disadvantaged. part iii, program services and accomplishments:the foundation channels financial resources to pre-k through 12 classrooms, teachers, schools, counselors, nurses, coaches supporting funding for basic needs and classroom materials that fall outside the school district or family budgets. other funding is targeted to unique projects that stimulate learning beyond the normal classroom curriculum through excellence in education, classroom and teacher focused grants and include, but are not limited to: arts & culture; extra-curricular activities; literacy, early childhood and family, and science, technology, engineering and mathematics. all programs and projects are strategically focused on increased graduation rates and lower drop-out rates within the district. the foundation strategically focused on securing funding for early childhood literacy programs through parents as teachers program at ocotillo early learning center for the past 3 years. we have been very fortunate to be awarded funding from the stone canyon community foundation and the diamond family foundation to offer an early childhood enrichment program bringing a program of fine arts & culture directly to our students and families. the expansion of this program will include summit view elementary school where students and families would have no opportunity to attend or be exposed to these types of programs. we also were awarded a multi-thousand dollar grant from the stocker foundation for another early childhood literacy program leaping into literacy focusing on making pre-kinder students ready for first grade. that program will also be expanded this year to include first through third graders.The foundation has also been extremely proud of its back to basics, emergency/flexible funding program that has provided over twenty-two thousand dollars, since its inception, to underserved areas in the district such as, providing nutritional support in the form of snacks for all of the district nurses offices to have on hand when a student suffers a blood sugar incident from diabetes, which is epidemic within this community. overall the foundations programs are impactful and critical with ever diminishing budgets.The foundation is constantly seeking and securing new financial resources through national and local foundations and entities where the foundation and donor work together on specific, impactful projects in early childhood literacy and support projects for 0-5 grade students at the districts nationally recognized ocotillo early learning center.The digital advantage and project graduation programs have evolved into digital computing, one to one technology within the district and classrooms below the proverty line and are considered financially disadvantaged. part iii, program services and accomplishments:the foundation channels financial resources to pre-k through 12 classrooms, teachers, schools, counselors, nurses, coaches supporting funding for basic needs and classroom materials that fall outside the school district or family budgets. other funding is targeted to unique projects that stimulate learning beyond the normal classroom curriculum through excellence in education, classroom and teacher focused grants and include, but are not limited to: arts & culture; extra-curricular activities; literacy, early childhood and family, and science, technology, engineering and mathematics. all programs and projects are strategically focused on increased graduation rates and lower drop-out rates within the district. it is a robust application and post-award data collection process to insure we continue our focus aligned with district goals.The foundation strategically focused on securing funding for early childhood literacy programs through parents as teachers program at ocotillo early learning center for the past 4 years. we have been very fortunate to be awarded funding from the stone canyon community foundation and the diamond family foundation to offer an early childhood enrichment program bringing a program of fine arts & culture directly to our students and families. the expansion of this program will include summit view elementary school and the los ninos kindergarten class where students and families would have no opportunity to attend or be exposed to these types of programs. we also were awarded a multi-thousand dollar grant from the stocker foundation for another early childhood literacy program leaping into literacy focusing on making pre-kinder students ready for first grade. leaping into literacy will also be expanded this year to include first through third graders.The foundation has also been extremely proud of its back to basics, emergency/flexible funding program that has provided over thirty-five thousand dollars, since its inception, to underserved areas in the district including, but are not limited to: providing nutritional support for nurses to provide snacks during diabetic episode events; funding to purchase business attire for our academic decathlong team to attend competitions and career or job interviews; and disposable cameras to record an extra-curricular library event. overall the foundations programs are impactful and critical with budgets that continue to grow smaller.The foundation is constantly seeking and securing new financial resources through national and local foundations and entities where the foundation and donors work together on specific,impactful projects in childhood and family literacy and support projects for k-12 outreach to classroms and teachers. expansion and enhancement of our programs is vital for continued success. the digital advantage and project
