During the 2012 tax year, the organization granted 325,000 to the conservation fund (one of the ccp partners) to help acquire a perpetual conservation easement on a portion of the east fork ranch in mineral county, colorado.\n\nThe center of excellence program is a joint venture between the organization, the colorado coalition of land trusts (cclt) and others to make colorado's land conservation community the most professional in the country. During the 2012 tax year, the organization granted 180,000 to cclt, which helped achieve the program's three overarching goals: (1) establishing voluntary, land-conservation-community-generated standards for colorado conservation easements designed to enhance and protect the work of the entire colorado land conservation community; (2) organizing and expanding educational opportunities for colorado land conservation professionals so they have the knowledge to create technically incontrovertible easements and are well equipped to achieve and exceed the new easement standards; and (3) researching and developing new software and database applications sought by the land conservation community to help organizations with the implementation of any new standards this initiative recommends and to generally assist an organization to improve work quality and efficiency.\n\nThe future conservation leaders fellowship program places emerging conservation professionals with qualified conservation organizations for two-year terms. The program matches great young talent with leading organizations that can meaningfully advance their work with the addition of a highly qualified staff member. During the 2012 tax year, the organization granted 30,144 to the montezuma land conservancy (mlc) in cortez, colorado for jon leibowitz's fellowship. Jon assists mlc with project management, stewardship and outreach. His fellowship runs from february 2012 to february 2014. During the 2012 tax year, the organization also granted 27,129 to the colorado water trust (cwt) in denver, colorado for edalin koziol's fellowship. Edalin assists cwt with voluntary efforts to restore and protect stream flows in colorado to sustain healthy aquatic ecosystems. These efforts include water acquisitions, other creative transfers of water, on-the-ground physical solutions, and providing technical assistance to land trusts.
